Bimbadgen Wines represent creativity, uniqueness and the desire to look beyond tradition. These values, shared by the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, form the basis of a unique partnership, from which these specially labelled wines are born.

Barbera originally heralds from Italy, however it is becoming widely planted in Australia. This Barbera, is from the cool climate region of Orange, NSW. With a low natural tannin content and moderate acidity, it is a wine that is ideally suited to cold meats, such as prosciutto or salami, accompanied with a French baguette. With bright red floral aromas and supple tannins, it has a soft gentle approach that will appeal to many. Enjoy, as we enjoyed making it!

Melbourne-based artist Louise Hearman creates visually haunting, modestly-scaled paintings in oil that are characterised by their eerie, gothic quality and deft manipulation of light and shadow.

  • Grown:
    Harvested from the Angullong Vineyard, Orange, NSW.
  • Picked:
    10th March, 2015.
  • Made:
    The fruit was chilled, crushed and de-stemmed into open fermenters,hand plunged twice daily and allowed to cold soak on skins for a period of two days to enhance colour and tannin extraction. After a ten day fermentation the wine was pressed and racked into a 2000L foudre,20% new French barriques and puncheons, the balance into older French oak. Malolactic fermentation was completed in barrel after six weeks. The wine was racked and topped until the final blend came together in July this year. Minimal egg fining was used before final filtration and bottling.

  • Appearance:
    Dark cherry red.
  • Aroma:
    Upfront vibrant sweet red currant and dark cherry fruits, balance by subtle oak. The palate is balanced by supple acidity and a soft tannin profile typical of the variety.
  • Palate:
    Generous, enticing mixture of cardamom spice, lemon zest, mid palate fruit sweetness with a refreshing length and freshness.
  • Cellaring:
    5 years plus.
  • Food:
    Charcuterie and many cured meats.
