Bimbadgen McDonalds Road Vineyard, Block 16
- Vintage Notes
2021 saw the end to a four year hot and dry spell here in the Hunter. This milder year brought higher yields and a longer ripening period allowing the fruit to develop beautifully. Block 16 being our largest parcel of Shiraz is generally the powerhouse for our McDonalds Road Shiraz. The parcel stood out showing its typical rich and powerful red fruit and balanced tannins, so it was decided to keep this block as a stand alone wine. Keep an eye out for the McDonalds Road Block 17 to compare the two.
- Tasting Notes
Fruit crushed into stainless steel fermenter and inoculated with a neutral yeast strain. Regular pump overs for colour and tannin extraction throughout fermentation before being pressed into French oak barriques
- Colour
Dark crimson
- Bouquet
Blackberries and forest floor intertwined by silky oak
- Palate
Concentrated red and black berries, supple tannins and a long integrated support of oak
- Peak Drinking / Cellaring Potential
5-10 years
